Amanpulo is located on the private 'Pamalican Island' within an hour's flight from Manila. It is a stunning, exclusive retreat with pristine beaches (some of the best in the world) and incredible coral reefs.
The flight to the island is an adventure in itself; a private 19 seat twin-engine plane will collect you from a section of Manila airport. Flights from Manila are twice daily, if you arrive early enough there is a wonderful Amanpulo waiting lounge where you can serve yourself complimentary drinks or snacks. They also have a selection of magazines and books so you won't be bored!
On arrival there is a small airstrip and another waiting lounge. The ground staff pull out the red-carpet (it makes you really feel like a VIP) and collect you and your luggage on a quirky golf buggy. Each casita is assigned one to use around the island. As the hot summer season (between November and May) can get very hot, they are indispensable.
The accommodation consists of 40 casitas (which are beautifully and locally decorated) either on the hillside or on the beach. All the rooms have stunning marble bathrooms, with huge baths (big enough for 4 people!), exclusive vanity sets and fluffy dressing gowns. Even though each room comes equipped with satellite TV, the island is so wonderful you won't want to spend a minute inside. Most of the beach casitas have their own hammock and private slice of the beach. The service is so discreet you never seem to notice it and you certainly won't be disturbed.
There are so many activities to enjoy if you are after something more exhilarating, try the islands own PADI dive centre. If you are already advanced,the night dive is one of the best experiences. If you are after something more romantic there is a wonderful 34-foot sailing boat on site, which can take you on a romantic cruise or a picnic.
This place is pure heaven for romantic couples or for those wanting to really get away from it all.
